Underwood Farms Opens Their Pick Your Own Fruits and Veggies Daily

With Lots of Rules and Regulations to Follow Social Distancing

Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark are opening their fields so you can come and pick your own fruits and vegetables from 9am – 6pm daily. But they are requiring masks and gloves be worn along with social distancing. Keep reading for the details.

The Moorpark Farm Center is located at 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark and includes plenty of fresh air and wide-open space, which will allow for visitors to select and harvest their own essential produce directly from the fields while maintaining social distance. 


FEES

  • Admission to pick your own produce is $5.00 per person. 
  • Children UNDER 2 are Free. 
  • Tractor-drawn wagon rides to the fields are included with admission.

HOW IT WILL WORK WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING

  • Entrance to the fields will be separate from our Farm Market. 
  • Admission will be collected at 2 booths with required distance separating visitors from our team members. 
  • There will be a one-way path to either board a tractor-drawn wagon or walk to the fields. 
  • Tractor-drawn wagons will carry a limited number of people to maintain 6 feet separation. 
  • Masks will be required when checking in and out. 
  • Gloves are required and must be worn at all times. 
  • Hand washing stations and restrooms will be at the entrances, in the fields, and at the exits. Upon exiting, two booths will be located for checking out. 
  • Sanitizing of surfaces will take place continually throughout the day. 
  • Team members will be on hand to ensure all procedures are adhered to by all. 

FARM MARKET & CLOSURES
The Animal Center will remain closed however our Moorpark Farm Market will be open from 9am – 6pm for pre-harvested produce, off-season items not grown on the farm, jarred products, eggs, nuts, specialty items and Tomatomania seedlings. Masks are required in our Farm Market. 

The Somis Farm Market is also open 9am – 6pm daily however the PYO fields remain closed at this location until the crops are ready to be harvested. The Animal Center is also closed.

The following Safe Operating Procedures will be followed to ensure the health and safety of our staff and team members. 

  • If you have a cough or fever, or are feeling sick DO NOT enter the farm 
  • A safe, 6-foot social distance MUST ALWAYS be maintained and will be required 
  • Customers MUST wear masks/gloves when checking in/out of farm & while on wagons 
  • Hand-washing stations and portable restrooms will be provided throughout the farm 
  • Brand new, single use, containers and bags will be provided for our customers 
  • TWO rows distance required between separate groups while picking 
  • All items picked must be taken by the customer and purchased 
  • Produce MUST NOT be touched or picked unless purchasing
  • Tractor-drawn wagon rides will be available for those not able or wanting to walk
  • All tractor-drawn wagons and equipment will be regularly sanitized 
  • Masks must be worn while on wagon rides to fields.
  • Gloves must remain on at all times. 
  • 6 feet distancing will be required on tractor-drawn rides to the fields
  • Pull wagons will be available to use in the fields & will be properly sanitized after use 
  • NO DOGS (except service dogs) will be allowed on the farm at this time. PETS WHOSE FUNCTION IS TO PROVIDE COMFORT OR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DO NOT QUALIFY AS A SERVICE ANIMAL UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY ACT. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY PETS WHOSE FUNCTION IS NOT THAT OF A SERVICE ANIMAL.
